Here is a cool photo of a bald eagle that I took at the zoo a few years ago. Aside from the window shine I think he posed very well. I really like the photo and ran across it so I thought I’d share.

As many of you know, occasionally I dig up someone from my past that may or may not know me and bug them in email. I don’t know why I do this. Sometimes it is someone that was a great friend or merely an acquaintance. Other times it’s someone whom I don’t even know personally. I just shoot for it. What can it hurt? Who knows you may even cultivate a new relationship with someone. My Fiancee often jokingly calls me ‘stalker’ when I approach these various people. But I figure if they’ve got their email address out there than they are happy to take your call. And if they want to talk–great! If they don’t… no problem! At least I tried.
As I’ve mentioned in previous emails, I’ve had conversations with Noel Paul Stookey of Peter Paul and Mary, Roger Ebert and other famous people. Recently I contacted the person who scored the music for a play I was in years ago. He was even kind enough to make a digital copy of the score and sort of give me a personal interview if you will. Chan Poling, successful solo artist, composer of commercial soundtracks and former member of the band The Suburbs even posted a comment on my blog once! Aside from famous peoples [who probably expect the occasional crazy fanmail] I’ve contacted several people whom I know [and are not famous] just to catch up.
I recently contacted someone from my past whom [I thought] I had once had a friendship with–albeit a short one. I was in 4th grade and we occassionally carpooled together. Since my mom taught Phys.Ed at the school she drove us. He was this cool guy that was really into Star Wars and LOTR back in the day. He likely helped fuel my interest in those subjects. Anyway–really cool guy. Well, I attempted a classic “Hi there remember me” email and I even got the right person. Unfortunately, he doesn’t remember me. ๐ Oh well.
Update!
I recently sent an apoligetic email to the man that I know and his wife. Seeing as they hadn’t responded in some time I took that to mean that they had no clue who I was and I should back off.

Jim, Monique,
I realize you must think I’m crazy now. And since you’ve not responded
I’m almost certain you have no idea who the heck I am. ๐
Thank you for your cordial responses and I wish you well!
Take care,
Adam Kooyer

Hi Adam,
Just wanting to get back to you. Jim is not always good at getting back to
people right away. His schedule has been pretty crazy lately. I apologize
for that. He does remember you and no, we don’t think you’re crazy.
For a little bit about what we are doing with our life you can go to
yqrevolution.org. We have started a nonprofit ministry to reach un-churched
youth. The site will tell you more, if you are interested.
God Bless,
Monique
So that was nice! Perhaps I will reunite with Jim in the near future and catch up on his life. ๐
“Of course”
“No meetings.” [gunshots continue]
Name that flick! It isn’t: Herbie the Love Bug.
Occasionally, I doodle in meetings. We all do it. I’ve thought about making a book of all of my doodles. I used to keep the slips of paper that I drew on and I think I still have a small stack at home waiting to be scanned. Here is a recent one I did about a week ago when I was in a co-worker’s cube waiting for him to finish a conference call…
Inspired somewhat by the new Herbie: Fully Loaded coming out this summer, I drew this from memory. I was only one number off on the license plate. I originally had the “7” as a “4”. I’m surprised I remembered 5 characters correctly!
